  • Hook Hockey

The Hook is a Leinster Hockey blog run by Stephen Findlater. I created the logo for Stephen some months ago and helped him from time to time with blog issues. When he decided he wanted to make the blog into a full site he contacted me and the Hook Hockey redesign project started. The original Hook blog was a Blogger-based blog and the new project involved getting the current site transferred over to an installed wordpress blog.

The process started at site architecture, which we worked out between us and then I did up some initial designs which went down well. The html/css cut up followed and the build is on Wordpress 3. The transfer and categorisation of content was another consideration for this project. Since its initial build we've added a stats section to allow Stephen to update league results.

The site has been hugely successful and since its redesign it has grown immensely, now seeing an average of 150,000 hits a month.

  • Glenanne Hockey Club

The Glenanne project was a redesign of an existing joomla site. The brief was to create something clean, straightforward and easy for them to update in a swift timescale. The resulting site was a Wordpress based site. This site gave me the scope to look into custom post types for the teams to allow for easy input of each teams News, Photos, Squad Info and Fixture information.

  • Equestrian World

This project is a redesign and wordpress build with ecommerce functionality. I created the design, did the html/css build and wordpress integration. The ecommerce element is being done in conjunction with another developer and uses the wp ecommerce plugin. Its in its final stages of development and content input before go-live.

  • JCSPCOTA

I was approached during the summer 2010 about the possibility of doing a website for a Teachers Professional Network called JCSPCOTA. I met with the client and prepared a proposal for the site design and build. The proposal was accepted and the designs worked out. A static site, it went live mid-November, on schedule for their First Annual Conference.

It has recently been expanded to create a discussion forum using bbpress.

  • Botanic Hockey Club

I took charge of the Botanic Hockey Club website back in 2002 when I joined the club, since then it has taken on many shapes and forms, through various redesigns. The current site is a wordpress based site to allow for easy updating of news items to keep it fresh and useful for club members. Future directions will most likely look into paying for fees/gear etc online.

The site has been a huge success since its redesign and attracts 20+ new players annually to the small club. Our club has become so successful this year that it has had to close membership until the new season for the first time ever. In the last 8 years the club has grown from 4 to 7 senior teams and its junior membership has almost doubled.

The site was also very successful in promoting our initiative to get an astro pitch in St.Mary's school. The site tracked the pitch build in 'Pitch Watch' keeping everyone up to date on a daily basis with photos and commentary on the development. It was really well received.
